Scottish Terrier
The Scottish Terrier hails from Aberdeen in the Scottish Highlands. He may be small in size, but don't be fooled, he is robust, strong of heart & sturdy of limb, a big dog in a small package. The Scottish Terrier's beginnings can be traced back to the mid 1800,s, it is placed among one of the older breeds recognised by the kennel club. Three of the most popular Scottish breeds are the Cairn Terrier, Scottish Terrier and the West highland Terrier. The Scottish Terrier is a sturdy, masculine dog, that can be independent & sometimes stubborn. He likes to be kept busy. Watching for squirrels& rabbits, greeting his master & guarding his property. He is quick, alert, intelligent& robust. He likes attention, but doesn't like to be overwhelmed. He enjoys a good game, but doesn't like to be made fun of. He is sensitive to praise and blame. He asks little of you, only a bit of love & conversation. He can be stubborn with a mind of his own. Patience is sometimes needed. He notifies owners of visitors. The Scottish Terrier is a fairly active breed that enjoys activity, exercise& appreciated regular opportunities to spend time with human. Regular walks, play sessions in the garden, or letting the dog run free in the garden-under supervision are sufficient forms of exercise, but they also enjoy long walks, an occasional hike or even a swim.
Grooming: A natural bristle brush or a hound glove can be used for daily grooming. The Scottish Terrier is a double-coated dog. There is a dense, thick undercoat that protects the dog in all kinds of weather& there is a harsh outercoat. There are many different grooming techniques. Find the most suitable for you. A regular visit ti the grooming parlour to keep the cut is recommended. Clean ears regularly. Clip nails regularly.
My opinion: A Scottish Terrier is a lovely breed. Full of fun. Cheeky. A good companion. They do take some patience in the early days to train, but once learned, never forgotten. A true loyal friend. A Scottish terrier looked after and groomed well: nothing to compare to it. Beautiful black shinning coat, sturdy, strong body, good friend, loyal companion. What else could you ask for? A good pet to the right people. It's a breed you love or hate. I just love them
